"A required installation file SKU011.CAB could not be found" Whats up?
Hi All,
I'm running MS Office 2003 over WinXP/SP2 up-to-date with Microsoft Update and good virus/etc. protection. All of a sudden the above captioned message started popping up whenever I tried to open MS Word. I installed my installation disk as directed and that seeemed fouled up. I checked my installation disk on my server and it appears to be fine. However there's no such CAB file to be found on it. I ran Microsoft Update again for main and auxilliary stuff and there's nothing relevant to be found. So what's up with this thing. Could I have a virus despite my vaunted virus protection? Thanks in Advance, Richard |

Hi All,
Woops. I found http://support.microsoft.com/Default...b;en-us;896866, which I didn't notice the last time I Googled for this message. This site seems to answer my question. I'll post back, one way or the other. Regards, Richard Richard wrote: Hi All, I'm running MS Office 2003 over WinXP/SP2 up-to-date with Microsoft Update and good virus/etc. protection. Hi All,
Problem solved! As I understand it, Microsoft installs a hidden cache when it installs Office. I think the most recent Microsoft Update I did decided the a certain CAB was superfluous and thus deleted it, perhaps because I selected a "clean-up" option - I don't remember that clearly. Nevertheles, I downloaded/installed/ran the tool offered to repair this problem, installed my original Office CD and voila! Word docs open without any hassle.
