Unable to open Publisher 2000 files after reinstall of Publisher 2
Disable the anti-virus software, see if that helps.
Try opening the files in safe mode, if you can open the files, it maybe your printer driver is at fault. Publisher saves all printer information with each file. Do these files have a lot of graphics? Did you try opening a file with the picture display set to none? Copy a file to your new drive and try opening it. -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "scottj" wrote in message ... hard drive crashed so reinstall was in order, original pub files were on another drive receive - Cannot open file created from a different version of Publisher have tried all fixes for corrupt Publisher files Q198256 PC has win xp pro sp2 installed with trend micro 7.0 latest engine/pattern files and Publisher 2000 SP3/Office 2000 SP3 now some of the Publisher files do open but not all, files are in the same place before install. all files were created with Publisher 2000 Scanned for spyware/malware and virus none found |

Unable to open Publisher 2000 files after reinstall of Publish
Having same problem. I have Pub. 2000 SR-1, running Win XP-Pro. Hurricane
destroyed hd but were able to save old pub 98 files. Tried disabling script blocking, office plug ins, disabling printer, opening in safe mode, hiding pictures, any other ideas? -- Kris V "Mary Sauer" wrote: Disable the anti-virus software, see if that helps. Do you have Norton?
How to use Office programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/329820/en-us Install a different printer, maybe the LaserJet IIP, set as the default. (You don't need the physical printer to install a driver) Will your publications open? If you can open them then it probably means your printer driver has become corrupt. Go to the manufacturer's web site and look around for an update. It is always best to completely remove a printer driver before installing/re-installing. How to clean up printer drivers http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm Are you using the same Operating System? Can you open the publications in safe mode? If you can then it is a driver problem. -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "libby" wrote in message ...
