Default Moving an Anchor

I need to know how to select an anchor and move it. I am inserting a .gif on a paragraph and then I text wrap it behind the text. Somehow when I do this the anchor is moving to another place where I don't want it. I need to select the anchor and move it. I can click on the arrow on the drawing tool bar to select, but it doesn't seem to want to move. Any ideas?

Hi =?Utf-8?B?Q2hlcnlsIEYu?=,

anchor is moving to another place where I don't want it. I need to select the
anchor and move it.

You should be able to click on the anchor symbol (in the right margin) and DRAG it.
I can only be dragged to a paragraph on the same page. And if the "lock" symbol is
showing, you first need to unlock. (And once you've moved it, you should lock it so
that it can't jump around any more)

Cindy,

I think that may be the problem (that it is locked). I have hundreds of documents that I've inherited in my new job and some of them I can move the anchors and sometimes I can't. So, how do I 'lock' and 'unlock' an anchor.

Cheryl

P.S. Thanks for your assistance in this matter.

Hi Cheryl

Right-click the graphic (or other floating object) and select Format Picture
(or equivalent for other objects). On the Layout tab of the Format dialog,
click the Advanced button. Check or uncheck the Lock Anchor box, then OK
twice.
