Default Viewing Shapes

Hi There,

I am very new to Visio and have a question regarding the ability to view
shapes. I have MANY different shape categories, and I am designing a drawing
for a data center which has many different components. I would like to be
able to go to My Shapes and select the category and have it show me the
shapes contained within.

The Shapes Toolbar does this, but I can only have so many categories in
there before it fills up the whole window and then I can’t see anything but
the category titles. I can open the My Shapes folder, but then I have to
select each category which opens its own window in Visio. This is all very
cumbersome, and makes it difficult, especially when trying to browse through
the many shapes.

Is there some sort of shape viewer which acts like the Shapes toolbar but
will allow me to have ALL my shape groups in there?

I hope my question makes sense.

Thanks!!

Debbie

Default Viewing Shapes

My general practice is to create multiple customized stencils for the
environment (infrastructure, servers, network, pci, etc.) This works for me
because typically a given data center will have a pretty limited number of
product data types (roughly around a hundred or so) that can be segregated
by function. With front/back and vertical/horizontal maybe 150 to 200
shapes.
May not be the answer you're looking for, but,
