Default Are custom color palettes fully supported in Visio 2007

Everything is geared to themes. We want a limited palette of colors, that's
all. Themes are not usable for us. Plus we've been using a custom color
palette for a couple years. People don't want to recolor their drawings.

We'd rather go back to using custom color palette if it's supported.

Or maybe there is another way to give people a limited set of colors
(without programming).
Thanks for any help.

In V2007 there are two ways to get limited colors. One is to change the
"indexed" colors, which is accessible from menu bartoolscolor palette. You
can change these colors, which are the "numbered" colors tha appear in the
Text, Line and Fill dialog boxes. Don't change either the black or white.
The other method is to create a custom theme color.

Thanks - actually I know about the functionality of color palette feature,
and I prefer it to themes for our needs - but I read on some forum that it
was not going to be supported.

That's what I'm trying to find out. Do you know?

thanks again for responding.

Sorry, don't know about the support part. It is somewhat difficult topic to
find info on -- no support? I have a text that discusses the color palette
briefly. Main points we 1.) these colors are "indexed" colors, e.g., 0 =
black, 1 = white, etc.; 2.) don't change either the black or white; 3.)
whatever colors you assign, if the drawing is sent to a different system that
uses different colors, the colors will change! The alternative is to use RGB
definitions as those are absolute (but not nearly as convenient -- my
observation.) I can't imagine Visio without good color funtionality as
that's integral to visualization. Having said that, the color palette and
themes seem to be somewhat restrictive in the total number of colors that can
be customized and saved.

Perhaps an MS Visio-ite can shed better light on the support issue.
