Default ASC save stripping characters

I have a Word doc with Section characters in it. Not the
Word Section markers/breaks, but ASCII 167, which displays
as the split "S" mark for denoting sections in government
documents. When I convert from a .DOC to a .ASC, the
Section characters are converted to spaces. Is there any
way to make that NOT happen?

Thanks!

Dennis

G'day "dennis" ,

One way is to convert them to something else, like ### before the
conversion, then search for and replace the ### with ASC 167.

Hi Dennis,

That only happens if you save in a text format that doesn't have the § mark
(such as US-ASCII).
If you can, choose another Windows or DOS code page -- most of them have
the character.

Regards,
Klaus
