continuous page numbering and section breaks
heres a fun one:
i mail-merged a 2-page letter, and ended up with a 328 page word file...chocked full of page 1 and 2. each newly-merged letter begins a new section, and each new section starts with page 1. so, if i want to begin printing with page 57, i cant. even though there is a 57th page in the document, word recognizes it as "page 1" in that section. question: can i somehow automatically remove all the section breaks, and/or have the pages continuously numbered across the whole document? |

continuous page numbering and section breaks
Matt,
To remove all the section breaks from you document, go to EditReplaceMoreSpecialSection Break. Position the cursor in the "Replace with:" text box and click SpecialManual Page Break. Click Replace All. To have the pages numbered continuously across the whole document without removing section breaks, you would need to go through the footer for each section, click the Format Page Number button on the Header and Footer toolbar, and set to 'Continue from previous'. You can print specific pages from your document as it is now if you know the trick. For instance, page 57 has an adjust page number of 1. Assuming that every section has 2 pages, that puts it in section 29, and the document has 164 sections. So to print from page 57 to page 328, enter the page range in the print dialog as "p1s29-p2s164". This tells the printer to print page 1 of section 29 through page 2 of section 164.
