Hi Chris,

Per our product team's suggestion, the error 78f may be fixed that you insert a CD (such as Office 2007 CD) in the CD-ROM and install
the SP1 update. If it works for you, I would like to collect the information below for our product team's further research. If it doesn't
work, skip the information collecting part.

1. Machine Information
1. OS and Version
2. # DRIVES
3. Computer Maker
4. Model

2. Office Setup Log Files
1. Log files created during the initial product install since this is when the problem is probably introduced on the system.
3. DVD/CD Letter
4. Office SKU
5. Office Language
6. How was Office installed? (Pre-Installed?)

As you have Office 2007 Enterprise, also Project 2007 and Visio 2007 installed on the computer, you should install 3 SP1 updates for
these 3 products. You may have installed one SP1 updates. So, it is normal that it prompt you to install another SP1 update.

1. Office Project 2007 Service Pack 1
2. 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1
3. Microsoft Office Visio 2007 Service Pack 1

To determine whether the SP1 is installed properly, go to Control Panel Programs Programs and Features highlight Office 2007,
click the link "click here for support information" to check if the version is 12.0.6215.1000.

Which SP1 update is it still prompt you to install? If the Office 2007 SP1 is still not installed, uninstall Office 2007 and then reinstall it.
What is the result?

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Emily Lin,

Also I went through steps you provided.
#1 Repair went fine, no problems found, however apparently installer changed
somthing becouse it requested restart.
#2 I'm unable to install this package, error is "Not enough storage is
available to process this command." However, having Vista I think I have
already latest version installed?
#3 There is pleanty of space, 80GBs on system drive, almost 200GBs on
second.
#4 I have MSOCache dir on system drive, contains: 1 031 038 717 bytes in 154
file(s), in 30 directories, difficult to say what's inside.

Thanks for help,
Chris

Hi Chris,

If possible, send the log file to me for further research. My email
address is .

At this point, follow the steps below to see if it works.

#1 check the Office 2007 installation
===============
1. Go to Control Panel Add or Remove Programs.
Go to Control Panel Programs Programs and Features.

2. Select Office 2007. Click Change. Choose Repair to repair it. Can it be
finished properly?
3. If not, repair it from the Office 2007 installation CD. If it also
doesn't work, there should be problem with the Office 2007
installation, refer to the following KB article to remove and reinstall
Office 2007.
928218 How to uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it
by using the "Add or Remove Programs" feature
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;928218

Install the Office 2007 SP1 update again. If it doesn't work, go to next
step.

#2 Install the latest version of Windows Installer
==========================
Patch deployment for the 2007 Office release system requires Microsoft
Windows Installer 3.1. If you do not have the required Windows
Installer version, you might receive an error message similar to the
following during installation:
"2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1) failed to install"

Download and install the latest version of the Windows Installer
(Instmsiw.exe) from the following link.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

#3 Make sure that you have sufficient free disk space on the Windows
system drive.
==========================
Office 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) requires that you have at least 1.75 GB
of free space on Windows Vista and at least 1.1 GB of free
space on other versions of Windows, much of which will be returned after
the installation is complete.

#4 check the Local Install Source (LIS) for Office 2007
===============
Since all Office 2007 installs create a Local Install Source (LIS),
updates such as SP1 will require this to be present and in good
condition to complete. If users have tried to recover hard disk space by
removing all or part of the LIS (the MSOCache folder), it will
need to be repaired before applying SP1.

Please insert the Office 2007 installation CD (or access the original
Office 2007 installation source) and then choose Repair to repair the
Office 2007 installation. It will restore the LIS.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't
hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Emily Lin,

I'm getting errors in Event Log:

When installing via Microsoft Update:

Product: Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - Update '2007 Microsoft Office
Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1)' could not be installed. Error code 1603.
Additional information is available in the log file e:\tmp\MSI963d8.LOG.

Additionally, MU interface displays error 78F (???)

When I'm trying to install manually from extracted MSP:

Product: Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - Error 1935.During installation
component assembly {46174A62-FAFE-4BD6-9662-F9A9F588F034} error occured.
HRESULT: 0x80131047. Assembly inteface: IAssemblyCacheItem, function:
Commit, assembly name:

Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Client.Internal.Host,fil eVersion="12.0.6215.1000",version="12.0.0.0000000" ,culture="neutral",publicKeyToken=
"71E9BCE111E9429C",processorArchitecture="MSIL "

I had to translate this error, it might not be 100% accurate.

I saw some solution about reinstaling or repairing NET Framework, but
solution is rather for XP, at least installing Net 1.1 doesn't change
anything.
I enabled logging, but I'm getting tons of junk in log files and nothing
conclusive.

I'm using Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 Enterprise, also Project 2007 and
Visio 2007 installed.

Thanks for any ideas.
Chris

Default Office 2007 SP1 - unable to install

It is a summary of the thread for your reference.

Issue: Cannot install Office 2007 SP1 update. Error 78f (error 1935).

Suggestions:

If you are using a pre-installed office 2007 and NEC computer, please insert a CD in the CD-ROM and try to update SP1 again.

This method doesn't fix the issue for Chris on this thread.

1. Repair Office 2007.
2. Check the Latest version of Windows installer.
3. Check the free disk space on C:\.
4. Download MSICUU2.exe to remove .net framework.

The above steps don't fix the issue for Chris on this thread.

5. Uninstall Office 2007, reinstall Office. SP1 was installed successfully.

Thanks.

Emily Lin
