Default OE 6 address inport

OS: Windows XP
Email: Outlook Express 6.0

I mistakenly posted to the wrong newsgroup. I hope I got it right this
time.

I want to import approximately 100 email addresses from a previously saved
file to a new group in my current address book. How do I proceed? I
certainly don't want to manually add these addresses to the new group

Any suggestions appreciated.

This is meant for Exporting / Importing Groups from one Address Book to
another. Perhaps you can adapt it to work for your saved file.

Create a "standalone" WAB file:
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/wab.htm#wabexe

Then open your default address book to the group desired and select all
member of the group and copy them to the clipboard (Ctrl+A selects all,
Ctrl+C copies them to the clipboard). Then open your "standalone" WAB file
and paste the contacts into that file (you will have to hit the Enter key to
OK each entry but it beats typing) and then either copy that wab file to a
floppy disc or export it as CSV file. Otherwise, folders and groups neither
import, nor export.

Hi SAZ,

There is one piece of information missing in your question. What type of
file was previously saved?

Here's something to try ...

Use a free standing WAB address book. This is created by entering

wab /new

in the Start, Run box. Naming the file will open this new address book
(*.wab) file. Import the saved file (*.csv?). Create a group folder in this
new address book. Add the entries from the Contacts folder to the group
folder.

Open the default (current) address book and import from the WAB file that
was just created.

Please reply within the current thread for this question.
