How to split a wall into two walls?
I am creating a building layout of our house.
I have put in place all the exterior walls which are 80cm thick. However, one of these walls has a section which is considerably thinner than the rest. As I do not want to have to redo the whole plan again, I would like to split the corresponding wall into two. This would enable me to keep the connections intact at each extremity and then insert the thinner section. Does anyone know how to do this? I have tried shortening the existing wall and then adding another wall section, but the new section refuses to connect to the other wall. I hope someone can help me |

I was able to Ctrl+drag a copy of a wall in such a way that it slid along
the existing wall. Tools Snap and Glue... setting probablyl have "snap to geometry". In this way, I can make two copies of the existing wall that are oriented at the same angle. So you drag one copy to the left, one copy to the right. You now have endpoints that "stick out". Just drag them back to the original corners. Now take the original wall that is laying underneath this mess, and shorten it, so that it snaps to the two new walls. All three should still be in a straight line. Right-click the middle wall and choose Properties to change the thickness of the wall. You will be missing two small black lines where the wall thicknesses vary. Perhaps ths is OK? I did this in Visio 2003, btw. Not sure how it differs from other versions. Another option: place an Opening over the existing wall, give it the color of the wall, then glue a thinner wall inside the opening. -- Hope this helps, Chris Roth Visio MVP "Simon Giddings" wrote in message ...
