Sharing PowerPoint 2002 slideshow
I am new at this. Using PowerPoint 2002, I created a
slide show for a basketball team with music and "fade smoothly" transitions and burned it onto a CD (using pack and go) and tried to show it at our high school. The timings were all off. They had PowerPoint 97 (with no "fade smoothly" transition) so it defaulted to "no transition". It seems to me the transition time should go from the beginning of one slide to the beginning of the next and not add transition time between. I thought I solved the problem by changing to "fade through black" fast (which Ppt 97 supports), but the timing was still wrong and the music and slides did not end at the same time. Another issue: The basketball team wants copies of the slideshow. I downloaded the PPT 97 viewer to include in the pack and go. When I tried it on my neighbor's computer, about half of the pictures didn't show. All we saw was the blue background. Does the PPT 2003 viewer show 2002 presentations properly? Would it be better to tell them to use the internet viewer? Can you tell me how one would do that? |

Sharing PowerPoint 2002 slideshow
Hi,
You might see this information on the knowledge base at : Slide Transitions Are Mapped to Nothing in PowerPoint 2000 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];278574 When you create a presentation In Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 or Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, and you then save the presentation as a PowerPoint 97-2002 & 95 Presentation (*.ppt) file, some of the slide transitions may not appear as expected when the presentation is viewed in PowerPoint 2000. CAUSE This behavior can occur when you use slide transitions in the presentation that are not available to PowerPoint versions earlier than PowerPoint 2002. When you save the presentation as a PowerPoint 97-2002 & 95 Presentation (*.ppt) file, a confirmation message appears warning you that the presentation may contain features that are not compatible with earlier versions of PowerPoint. If you click Help on the confirmation message and then view the features that are affected, slide transitions are not specifically mentioned, but Animation effects are described as either converted or not appearing in the earlier versions of PowerPoint. RESOLUTION To work around this issue, add a transition that is available in the PowerPoint version that you are using to view the presentation. In PowerPoint 97 and 2000, follow these steps: Select the slide that you want. On the Slide Show menu, click Slide Transition. In the Effect list box, select the transition effect that you want, and then click Apply. ================================================== ========================== === Ashish Chetal This posting is provided “AS IS” with no warranties, and confers no rights. ================================================== ========================== === |
