All Emails Have Disappeared
yes, I saw that and I did it...and I restarted the computer...the emails are
still gone...is there a next step? I am very grateful for you all taking the time to help me. I have spent hours and hours on this (as have you) and I can see where the .dbx files are, but I do not know how to get them inside OE. sadly enough for low tech me, the page said there was a button in the UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER of the page, so that was where I was looking. as you kindly pointed out, it is on the left side, it is not a button and it is not in the upper right hand corner! yikes! "Frank Saunders, MS-MVP, OE/WM" wrote in message news wrote in message ink.net... thank you for the info! You are not fully patched. There is at least one optional patch for Outlook Express waiting for you at Windows Update. Since it is an optional patch it will never be downloaded by Automatic Updates. This patch is only for OE on WinXP SP2, which you have and has several bug fixes. The fix relative to this thread is that before compacting folders it copies them to the Recycled Bin with a BAK extension. You should get it. |

All Emails Have Disappeared
Back up in this thread, I explained that the tool you needed to recover the
messages was DBXpress. Your reply was: QP I do not wish to waste $25 and screw up my computer still more. /QP The messages are not going to magically reappear and the longer you wait, the less chance you have of recovering them. The patch you just downloaded will save a copy of your dbx filed in the Recycle Bin when you compact in the future. It will not get back your messages that are missing now. Only DBXpress run in disk mode has a chance. If there was another way, I would tell you. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ wrote in message ink.net... yes, I saw that and I did it...and I restarted the computer...the emails are still gone...is there a next step? All Emails Have Disappeared
I looked very closely at the page where one can buy that software, and I saw
words and phrases checked and not checked on the "how it works" picture that I do not understand, so my confidence that I could work it correctly is VERY low. If I knew that it explained each step very carefully, that would be one thing...but I don't...from the example, I would not know which ones to check adn which ones not to check...does it explain how to choose?
