Attachment 'Save As' from open email window missing file extension
Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1123
Win XP Prof SP1 Problem: When I save an attached file to a folder using (Right Click) Save As on the attachment name from the open email window, the file is saved by default with no extension. ie. the file name appears in the save as dialog with no extension, and unless I add it, that is how it is saved. This appears to happen only when "Hide extensions for known file types" is checked in the explorer folder options/view. Is this a generally known problem, or perhaps associated with a recent update? |

If you save the file without manually adding an extension and then go to look at the file
in the Windows File Explorer, what does it list for the file in the TYPE column? If it has the right type, then you don't have a problem. What you are seeing is expected. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Kevin" wrote in message om... Yes, that's what I would have expected, and it's working like that on
my machine here. On the machine in question though, the files were actually being saved with no extension, (and hence the file type was 'file'). The 'hide extensions' setting was ticked. When it was cleared, the files saved properly. "Michael Santovec" wrote in message ...
