Default page numbering within an 86 page document

Hi.

Problem ONE: I need the following numbering pattern on these 86 pages.

Page one - no number
page two- 2
page three - no number
page four - no number
page five - no number
page six - no number
page seven - no number
page eight - 2 (again)
page nine - 3
page ten - 4
page eleven thru end will continue to ascend one number at a time until end of document.

Problem TWO: I need all the page numbering to only appear on the upper right hand corner of the page where numbering is in place.

the problems above may seem simple to answer, let me describe some of tyhe problems I encountered. When I tried to use the section breaks I was unable to stop the pages 3,4,5,6,7, from being numbered. When I tried to delete the numbers from each of thiose specific pages the header function would change every page on the whole doc.

another issue that was troubling was how to have the number onlyu appear on the upper right hand corner of every page where numbering was needed. even when I specified that the upper right corner should be used the left corner kept being used..I also tried inner and outer commands as well..I would be happy to include my cell number here but I do not want to violate policy.....ANY AND ALL HELP IS VERY APPRECIATEDTHANKS AGAIN

Eli,

Here is one way.

At the end of text on page 7 insert and section break. Your document now
has 2 sections. Open the Header and Footer view, navigate to the Header
section 2 and uncheck "Same as Previous" or "Link to Previous" (choice is
version dependent). Position your cursor in the top right hand corner of
the header, click the "format page number" icon on the header/footer toolbar
and select start at and input 2. Next click the insert page number icon on
the header and footer toolbar. Pages 8 through 86 should be numbered per
your preference.

Now go to the header section one and postition your cursor. Type the
following:

IF PAGE = 2 PAGE

Now select the first instance of PAGE and press CTRL+F9
Select the second instance of PAGE and press CTRL+F9
Select the entire expression and press CTRL+F9

It should now look like this { IF P PAGE } = 2 { PAGE } }

Right click the express and click update field.

Page 2 should be number per your preferences.

HTH
