Possibility to color-code mail folders in Outlook
I would like to see a feature in Outlook where I can change mail folder text
color and font properties. Enabling color-coded folders and user-defined folder appearance would help building a more effective and personalized folder structure, especially when you have 100+ folders to scroll and move between. The mail folder icons could also be made user-definable for ultimate personalization. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. Possibility to color-code mail folders in Outlook
I've been trying to find a way of doing this, and whole-heartedly agree with
your suggestion. Even if you could just alternate colors or shading between successive folders, it would be a great help. All they have to do is enable the same functionality as the Windows Explorer
has. This would definitely enhance the user's ability to organize their data. -- Tiga "T. Jenkins" wrote: I've been trying to find a way of doing this, and whole-heartedly agree with your suggestion. it's really kind of amazing that they DIDN'T anticipate the desire for such a
feature... "Tiga" wrote: All they have to do is enable the same functionality as the Windows Explorer has. This would definitely enhance the user's ability to organize their data. -- Tiga "T. They know people want it, but the cost of making it work was too high for

yes, i can certainly see how that could be a factor, given Microsoft's
limited profit margin. Possibility to color-code mail folders in Outlook
It has nothing to do with their profit margin. Individual products do not
have unlimited time and resources to add features so they have to pick and choose. Part of the process involves assigning the value of the developers time to add/change the feature, additional bugs it might introduce and the number of people who want each feature. They use this to triage the features and determine what gets done and what gets pushed back for the next version. Changing the folder icons is not like in windows explorer - a lot more is involved in doing it in Outlook. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com "glennn.php" wrote in message ... yes, i can certainly see how that could be a factor, given Microsoft's limited profit margin. Possibility to color-code mail folders in Outlook
I've been searching for a way to do this and I am very disappointed to see
this post since it means the feature doesn't exist! It's been harder and harder to organize my Outlook content. I am now looking at other options like having my work mail forwarded to a gmail account. I just can't deal with having to waste two minutes looking for the folder to stick each message into - and I am just a simple clerk with a relatively low email volume (20-30/day). An hour a day I could spend doing something useful. "henrik" wrote: I would like to see a feature in Outlook where I can change mail folder text color and font properties.
