Access 2002 runtime
Hi all
Does Access runtime work on a machine with where no other office products are installed? It seems to work fine on a test machine I installed it on with only Windows XP, but am I setting myself up for some later problems ? TIA johnb |

That should be fine, as long as your database doesn't do anything that
explicitly needs other Office programs. -- Allen Browne - Microsoft MVP. Access 2002 runtime
As long as your db doesn't rely on things only in office, like the graphics
filters, your db will run. Make sure you have a startup form, good error handling, custom menus and you may even need a switchboard type form, or at least buttons on the forms or toolbar that let the user open other forms if your app has more than one form because the db window doesn't show. Access 2002 runtime
Hi Chris
Thanks for the comments. I've tried to cover all the options, I never do but hopefully I've got most. I'm using Access 2002 sp3. Should I be using Access 2007? I have it but never used it. Access 2002 runtime
Upgrading to a new version requires additional testing. If you've got time
you could do it. Remmber that Access 2007 only runs on Windows XP and Vista, not Windows 2000 and earlier like Access 2002 does, so you're limited on platforms it's going to run on. I'd stay with Access 2002 unless there was a compelling need for some feature in Access 2007, like Sharepoint Server. Chris Microsoft MVP johnb wrote: Thanks for the comments.
