Locked out of my database

I have an open database that I was reviewing to write up documentation.
I recently have tried to open the database to review some event code that
was in a form. The database says I do not have exclusive rights and yet it
thinks I am in the database from this message. I have logged out of my
machine only to find I am still in the program, how do I fix this issue?

Either reboot the pc or log back into your account and open the task manager
and kill the msaccess.exe process.

But why do you need exclusive rights to review code and write documentation
for it? You only need exclusive rights when you're making design changes.

I needed the rights as I am cleaning up code that was not used as user needs
changed frequently during the development. Ironically, someone else had gone
into the database and was in it.

Ok so your were really making design changes not just reviewing code.

But if someone else opened *your* front end it means you're sharing a db file
on the network. The db should be split into two files with tables and
relationships in the back end file saved on the network share and a copy of
the front end file (all other objects) on each user's desktop. You'll avoid
many chances of corruption and prevent many problems a shared environment
causes like not having exclusive access when you need it.
