Upgrade from Exchange 2000 to 2003 error

I'm in the process of upgrading an exchange 2000 server to exchange 2003, but keep getting the following error "Setup failed, sub-component Exchange Server 2003 - Exchange 5.5 synchronizer." I then get the following error messages in the setup log:

I've searched online and on microsofts site, there is a reference to the synchronization error, but it deals with exchange 2000 RC2 to exchange 2000 RTM. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.
