Format picture better in word2000
in word 2000. I could insert a picture. Right click it and format it.
I had lots of thumbs of a dog allowing me to wrap text etc. I could drag it around and position it any where I wanted to. Can't do that know in word 2007. |

You can still do in Word 2007 and the way to do it is identical but finding the settings is different. When you right click the picture the "dogs with the text wrapping" is found in the Text Wrapping line in the menu that appears. You can bring up the 2003 style by clicking on the More Layout Options line in the menu. To get to the "being able to move it around" you do need to get to the old style menu as described in the above paragraph and then click the "dog picture" desired and then click the Picture Position tab and turn off "Move object with text" then OK out. Hope this helps, let us know. |

There is a very steep learning curve for Office 2007. You should have stayed with Office 2000. In any case, your formatting issues (paragraph formatting from your previous post) appear from here to be caused by the formatting options of a Normal Paragraph. Paragraph formatting, and fonts, for that matter, are stored in a file named NORMAL.DOT. You can make changes to the formatting options from within a regular document by selecting the formatting options you desire, then selecting the Add to Template checkbox. If you make the changes permanent, they will be stored (updated) in NORMAL.DOT. If you select the Update Automatically checkbox, then future changes to the settings will be stored -- I suggest you DO NOT check this box. It appears that you open a New File, and the default paragraph is _not_ Normal, or it _is_ Normal, but the paragraph formatting options are not as you desire. You select the text, make the changes, and continue typing, but the next paragraph is not formatted as you desire, so you have to make formatting changes yet again. 1. Open a new document. 2. Select the paragraph marker -- I suggest that you ALWAYS leave the paragraph markers set to ON so that you can see the space, tab, and paragraph marks. These items in the document help you to find your way around. You will eventually learn to ignore them as you type, but you can easily find the insertion point when you go to type or insert new information in a line or paragraph. 3. make sure the Paragraph Style is Normal. 4. Select FormatStyles. Set the desired options. 5. Save. Without seeing what you are doing, my guess is that your Normal Paragraph Style has been altered, and you don't know how it happened so you don't know how to get back to the default settings. Paragraph Styles are an important part of document generation. The idea is that you can go along typing at breath-taking speed, then come along later and assign paragraph formats to selected paragraphs and the document will magically become a thing of beauty, with headings and body text that can be referenced in a table of contents and index pages. You can create uniform bullet lists, and lots of other fun stuff. The downside is that if you don't know what is happening, the styles can put you into a tailspin. I think that somebody made some changes to the Normal Style, and you are now struggling to get the changes to go away. As for the picture formatting in Office '07, I'm not sure what your issues are. But, I'm pretty sure that if you turn the Formatting Marks ON (ToolsOptionsView) and set many of the other items ON also -- Picture Place Holders, Text Boundaries, and so on -- then it will be far easier to navigate around on your pages so that you can make the changes to the stuff you want to change. There's no reason you can't grab the corner of an insterted Text Box or Picture Box and drag it to change the size or location. If the Formatting Marks are OFF, you might not be able make the adjustments you desire because you can't see the correct placeholder to select the items you want to change. |
