user name prompt after office 2003 install
I'm installing office 2003 on a domain with a customized mst file, created
from office Resource Kit. After the installation no matter who logs on, they will always get prompted to enter a user name and initials when opening, word, powerpoint etc. for the first time. Why is the option not available in the mst file creation? Outlook seem to be able to setup automatically with %username%. We do not want our domain users to have this option. Many thanks Spectrum. |

Spectrum48k,
I am installing Office 2003 using a custom .mst file created with the CIW, and I am having the opposite problem as you. :-) I would like for Office 2003 to prompt the user to enter a username and initials as we use document tracking features and it always just has the company name for the "Author" on all Office documents. I have tried installing with the .mst and without the ..mst and everytime, it does not prompt the user to enter username and initials. If anyone has any suggestions, please help. -bhall "spectrum48k" wrote: I'm installing office 2003 on a domain with a customized mst file, created from office Resource Kit. During creation of your mst file the following links address both of your
issues http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...513661033.aspx Look for the settings for NOUSERNAME set to 1 or TRUE to allow users to put in there name at first launch of office application and one would assume 0 or FALSE to not prompt "bhall" wrote: Spectrum48k, I am installing Office 2003 using a custom .mst file created with the CIW, and I am having the opposite problem as you. :-) I would like for Office 2003 to prompt the user to enter a username and initials as we use document tracking features and it always just has the company name for the "Author" on all Office documents. Thanks Bob! That is exactly the information I was hunting for. I also
noticed that when NOUSERNAME is not defined anywhere, and a user starts an Office application for the first time (after logging in and creating a user profile for the first time), it will prompt for the username. I appreciate the link! -bhall "bhall" wrote: Spectrum48k, I am installing Office 2003 using a custom .mst file created with the CIW, and I am having the opposite problem as you. :-) I would like for Office 2003 to prompt the user to enter a username and initials as we use document tracking features and it always just has the company name for the "Author" on all Office documents.
