Default Exporting connecting lines from visio to excel/db

Greetings.
We have large, complex system interface diagrams in visio - lots of boxes
for the systems, and connecting lines between the boxes for interfaces. once
all the shape info is exported, how do I tell what lines connected which
boxes? I would hate to have to look up the start/end coordinates and
correlate them against the rectangle outlines.
I would love to hear that it's something like the connector has a shape ID
for the shape it connects to at its source end, and another shape id for the
shape at the head.

thanks much

The good news is that they do have id's. The better news is there are
examples in the visio sdk on how to extract the data from a drawing. There is
also an example on how to chase connections (a drawing explorer).
