I am needing to populate an excel spreadsheet with data
that is in an Access file. The problem is that the Access records are 779,834 and the Excel spreadsheet is 44,000. I need help in linking a VLOOKUP function to the Access file. |

Link Excel to Access
Hi
just as a suggestion: Why not do this linking in Access (link the Excel table in Access) and use SQL for this. Afterwards you may create a query in Access to return the values back to Excel -----Original Message----- I am needing to populate an excel spreadsheet with data that is in an Access file. Link Excel to Access
Select Data | Import External Data | New Database Query
The Select Data Source dialog box will come up. Select "Access Database" then press OK. Next browse to your Access database and press OK. This brings up the MS Query Wizard, which will lead you through selecting your data from a table or query in your data source. It holds your hand through specifying filters and sorts, and allows you to enter calculated fields and selection criteria visually in an environment similar to the one in Access for editing queries. There are tons of options for dealing with variables, aggregating etc. The help is OK, and if you need specific advice, I'm sure you will get it here. |
