Stop processing more rules???
"Martyn B Tindall" wrote in message ... Could some kind person please explain the purpose of the words "Stop processing more rules" in a message rule? TIA -- Martyn Tindall Leeds, England, United Kingdom (To reply, please remove "spamfree.".) An example might help you to understand. I have a message rule which says that if the subject line contains certain people (those in my family, close friends, no others) then move the email to a box I named "invited." Nothing mysterious, just a folder that is not the regular inbox. You can create as many folders as you like, and I have that one and one for ebay in addition to the normal folders. I also stipulate in this message rule to "stop processing more rules." That's so that anything that comes specifically from those I really DO want to hear from gets placed in the "invited" folder. If that stipulation were not present, then certain words that are contained in those emails from family or friends (say, spam words like viagra or loan or any of a list of hundreds that are in another message rule) would kick those emails into the deleted box. In other words, a spam rule would act in addition to the first rule. That's why OE gives you the option of saying, "Do this and no other." Hope this helps. J |
