parametric graphs
Hi all,
This may sound a silly question, but... I have some data that measures the relationship between temperature and viscosity of various chemicals. Since this relationship varies over time, I'd like to add a third axis (time the measurements are taken). Is there a way of creating 3axes'd graphs on excel without using add-ons? Cheers Sarah |

Excel cannot deal with charts that have 3 numerical axes.
I've found that two axes are usually sufficient for presentation of this kind of data, since it's hard to interpret x, y, and z values when the chart is shown in perspective view. I would make multiple curves of X=Temperature and Y=Viscosity, with one curve at each measurement time (or alternatively, switch temperature and time). Andy Pope has a simulated 3D scatter chart on his web site (http://andypope.info). If you need a solution outside of Excel, you might try products like SigmaPlot or DeltaGraph. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Peltier Technical Services http://PeltierTech.com/Excel/Charts/ _______ Sarah wrote: Hi all, This may sound a silly question, but... If your independent variable values are all equidistant, you can create
a 3D surface plot. See the Excel/Charts/3D Surface page of my web site. -- Regards, Tushar Mehta www.tushar-mehta.com Business solutions leveraging technology Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) 2000-2004 In article , says...
