Auto-sorting Charts
Sharon -
The function LARGE is for getting sorted numbers from an unsorted list. You can of course sort the table: select the cells, go to Sort on the Data menu, and choose the options you need. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP http://www.geocities.com/jonpeltier/Excel/index.html _______ sharon wrote: Tushar, Can I sort text instead of numbers?? By using your example I need to sort by column A instead of column B. So instead of using the function large for numbers I need to know the function for text? If you could reply I would greatly appreciate it. Auto-sorting Charts

I suppose you could use a macro that copies the updated data and sorts it. Then the charts, which you've set up as dynamic charts, update to the larger range automatically. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP http://www.geocities.com/jonpeltier/Excel/index.html _______ sharon wrote: Jon, I can't use the sort button because I need to keep the data the way it is and I need a copy beside it that is sorted so that when I graph it I can select the series. Data is added to it daily and it is time consuming to add the data into two tables. When the one is just for graphing purposes. There are many graphs that I have to update regularly. So I thought that a formula beside it would sort it automatically so that when I enter the data in one table that is sorts it in the next table and then the graph is updated. Any ideas? ------------------------------------------------ ~~ Message posted from http://www.ExcelTip.com/ ~~ View and post usenet messages directly from http://www.ExcelForum.com/ |
