Letterhead Different First/Second Page and Margins

This has been a problem for several years now and I would
appreciate any suggestions the community might have. We
have been using text boxes to "adjust" margins on the
first page to fit our preprinted letterhead which is used
only on the first page. This is beginning to become
extremely annoying because many times what is displayed
on the screen is not what is printed on the printer.
Using text boxes also causes problems with margins in
that it deems them completely useless. Any changes in
margins using the tabs on the ruler either have no effect
(as in the case of the right margins) or are decieving
(the left margin tab does not change text to where it is
placed, it is relative to the text box). Does anyone
know if there is already a solution or if Microsoft has
any wish of fixing this in the future and providing the
extremely useful feature of having differing first page
formatting from the rest of the document without having
to constantly place section breaks and/or text boxes
to "rig" it.

So far as I know, the solution you are using is the only one out there. Here
is my blurb on preparing letterhead templates. It may give you some new
ideas but the links won't tell you any different.

If you are interested in creating templates that will work with the letter
wizard or use that wizard, you should look at the chapter on Advanced
Document Formatting in Using Office 2003 (or whatever your version is),
Special Edition, by Ed Bott and Woody Leonhard. It has detailed instructions
including instructions on getting the fields you want from your Outlook
Contacts for addressing a letter. (Chapter 19 of SE Using Office 2003) You
should be able to get this through your public library or at Amazon.com
