The setup controller has encountered a problem during install

I have Office Home & Student 2007 and Windows XP SP3 installed.
When open any Office program, I receive the message:

"The setup controller has encountered a problem during install. Please
review the log files for further information on the error."

I don't know where to find the log files.

I run the Office Diagnostics and "Setup and Repair", but the error remains.
Any suggestion?

I have seen other references to this error and a suggestion that you may
want to completely uninstall and re-install Office, as the installer may be
hung up. One poster had to completely remove Office manually, using these
instructions:

Since the repair didn't work, you might want to try the uninstall/install
first.

I forgot to say, I have Office 2007 trial version only 3 days installed and
I maintained my old Office 2003, which is working fine.

In order to fix the problem should I uninstall also Office 2003?
After uninstall Office 2007, how can I reinstall it? Do I have to download
it again?

Not sure, but once you uninstall Office 2007, try to run Office 2003 and see
if everything works. You may want to repair or re-install it if it doesn't.

I suspect you may need to re-download the Office 2007 Trial to re-install
it.
