Setting a Relative path
I am using PowerPoint 2003. I want to link to .pdf files
that are contained in the same directory as my presentation without having to specify the entire path name -- because when I copy this to another person's computer, they won't have the same path. I *think* the way to do this is using a relative path, but I can not find information on how to set up a relative path. I can see that there is such a thing but don't know how to specify a relative path. Everytime I specify a file name when using the "embed hyperlink" function, PowerPoint is automatically inserting the path name preceding the file name, whether or not I've typed it in. |

Just link it to the PDF in the same folder irrespective of whether you see
the full path - when you copy the entire folder to another system, PowerPoint will have no problem linking again to the PDF. Even though you can see the full path name inserted, PowerPoint won't remember that as long as the linked files are placed in the same folder as the presentation itself. Just one thing to remember - you need to save the presentation at least once before you link the PDF or any other external file. Here's more info: PowerPoint Links and Link Problems http://www.indezine.com/notes/2004/0...-problems.html For existing presentations with links already made, you can change them with FixLinks Pro: RnR FixLinks Pro - http://snipurl.com/fixlinkspro -- Geetesh Bajaj, Microsoft PowerPoint MVP PowerPoint Notes: http://www.indezine.com/notes Free Templates: http://www.indezine.com/powerpoint/t...templates.html Technical Specialist, PowerPoint Live http://www.powerpointlive.com wrote in message ...
