Disabling IRM feature
Hi All,
We have recently deployed Office 2003 in company and we want to disable the IRM feature in Office 2003 applications. Is there any possible way to do this or is it possible to hide the permission option in the file menu? Humans |

I don't think you can disable the IRM (Information Rights Management) feature all together, but you CAN remove
any menu items and buttons on toolbars related to it. I'll explain how to do this in Microsoft Word 2003, but it should work for any Microsoft Office 2003 application: Click Tools - Customize... Click the File menu then click and hold on the "Permissions " sub-menu and drag it away from the File menu until your mouse cursor changes to an arrow which is on top of a small box with a "X" in box just below the pointer. When this happens, release the mouse button and the menu item will be removed. With the Customize dialog box still open, do the same with the "Permission (Unrestricted Access)" button (located to the right of the "Save" button) on the Standard toolbar (which is located just below the menu bar). Repeat the above process with Microsoft Excel 2003, Microsoft PowerPoint 2003, and any other Microsoft Office 2003 application. "humans" wrote in message ... Disabling IRM feature
Add the Office11.adm file to the administrative templates section of a GPO
and then you'll find under Office 2003 a catagory named "Manage Restricted Permissions" and the option to "Disable Information Rights Management User Interface".
