Linking formulas and spreadsheets
I have copy and pasted some spreadsheets across from (file
1) into another file (File 2). There are some formulas in these copied spreadsheets (now in file 1 and 2)that link to other spreadsheets within file 1 and these spreadsheets I dont want to copy to file 2. The formulas are correct but some data wont display in file 2 unless I have file 1 open also. Please help as I dont want to have to have file 1 open. Thanks |

Option 1 (if you never need the formulas in file2 to update): edit / copy ; Edit / paste special / Values Option 2: rather than having a formula in file2 that references data in file1 and is too complex to be evaluated with the file closed, compute the result you want in a cell in file1 and link the cell in file2 to the cell in file1 (preferably by range name rather than address). The simple link should be refreshed OK on opening. Bill Manville MVP - Microsoft Excel, Oxford, England No email replies please - respond to newsgroup |
