Default Documents on Network drive alwasys say "document in use"

When I try to open a WORD or EXCEL document or attach a file in OUTLOOK that
are on a network drive, I get a message that "the document is in use" and am
unable to open it.
However, if I save the file down to my PC hardd rive, I can open or attach
the
document.

The problem only happens with Microsoft Office products and has just started
happening in the last few weeks.

How do I fix this problem?

Your help would be appreciated
