Help button doesn't work
I just upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, and now the Help buttons in all of
my Office 2007 programs no longer work properly. The Help window appears, but the right hand panel is not able to access the HTML content from Online Help. If the Help application is "connected" to the internet, the right hand panel is blank. If the Help application is looking only at my computer, the right hand panel has content, but the links do not work (probably because they are trying to get online content). I have tried "repairing" Office, removing and reinstalling it, using diagnostics, turning off my firewall, and various other things, to no avail. The one thing that does work is if I create a new user account in Windows. I suppose I could create a new user account and then just migrate all of my settings over to it, but I was hoping to find an easier way. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Help button doesn't work
Grampa: After endless searching on this topic, I posted a similar question
on 11/26/09 and have not had any responses. I did find an article that said to check for the date of the help files in the 1033 folder being from 2006 and not 2008. Mine were dated 2006, so I tried the download updates for Word (all office programs had updates). The Help files were then dated 2008, but the hyperlinks in my Help file's Table of Contents still would not work. I am going to install Office Service Pak 2 AGAIN from (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en) and see if that works (it didn't previously; plus I always download updates as they are published). My next choice is to contact Microsoft. I'll post my results. P.S. I have tried REPAIR and re-installing Office also; neither worked. Thanks for the idea to create a new user account, but you're right, it should be easier than that.
