Default Subreport columns not showing

I have two reports - one with one column and a header, and another
which has several text boxes arranged in a column in the Details
section of a multi-column (5) report which I would like to use as a
subreport.

The second (5-column) report looks fine when I view it in print
preview mode by itself, but when I insert it into my "main" report
(with header information), it only displays one column of data. I am
aware of Microsoft's bug with having the column "grow" settings to
"Across then down", which is what the subreport is set to. I also
have "Can Grow" turned to NO per another suggestion that I found on
another thread.

Interesting also is that the report WITH the sub report looks fine if
I view it in "Layout Preview", but as soon as I Print it, or view it
in "Print Preview" mode, it only displays one column.

Any suggestions?

There are 2 possible causes that I am aware of.
1) your subreport columns are set to display Down then Across
2) your subreport control on your main report isn't wide enough to display
more than a single column.

1. I have verified multiple times that the subreport columns are indeed set
to go Across then Down.
2. The subreport control is more than 5 times the subreport width; In fact
is is 54% wider than it needs to be.

It is still interesting that if you look at a LAYOUT preview, everything
appears perfectly, yet it does not in a PRINT preview.

Please let me know if you would like a copy of the database itself (it is
all self-containted) or any other information. I am stuck on this one and
have spent WAY more time than I had intended creating this [simple] report.

These are two printouts of exactly the same report (with 10-column subreport
set to more than necessary width) in both LAYOUT preview and PRINT preview.
Can anyone explain this phenomenon?

I have solved half of my problem. The report was only generating a single
column because the "Link Master Fields" and "Link Child Fields" were both
set. Clearing these boxes caused a page full of columns to be printed as
they should be.

That is just the problem though - A page full, there is data enough for at
least 20 pages and it only prints the first one... why would this be?

It was because I had the report information in the Page Header section of the
report instead of the Detail section. This had been suggested to me as a
solution on a different site, but moving it back to the Detail section solved
the problem.
