Default reminder in calender

I used to have the "bell" icon automatically turned on whenever I type my
reminders in the daily columns. Now it has disappeared. How do I get it
turned on automatically again?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
