Sharing Outlook
I have just set up a home lan with a Desktop PC and a Laptop. I have outlook
on the desktop and would like to be able to access the outlook file and be able to update it from the laptop. I already have file sharing working on other folders. I notice in outlook there is file sharing under "file share". I have outlook 2000 installed on both machines. I tried to turn on file sharing in outlook but now it wants a default mail acct. I don't use outlook for mail I use Ootlook Express. Should I turn on sharing the outlook .pst file using win explorer or do I have to do it via outlook or both? Is there an easy way to do what I want to do? -- Norm |

Net folders relies on mail accounts being installed to work since it updates
via e-mailed calendar, mail, contact items, etc. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without reading. Thanks Milly, can you explain what you mean in a little more detail? Are
"net folders" just for sharing across the internet or do I use them to share access on my Lan between PCs? I am reading outlook help but I still do not understand how to allow my laptop to access my desktop outlook data. Does your response mean I can not update via file sharing or are you saying? How does contacts and calendar get updated via e-mail? If I do the following will I be able to share to my laptop? - add mail account to Outlook - Share outlook folder for update -Do File Share and publish a net folder to my laptop -- Norm "Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]" wrote in message ...
