You ned to create a CUSTOM LIST...

Excel 2003
Tools-Options-Custom Lists tab

You can enter this in A1
=CHAR(64+ROW())
copy down till Row 26, copy & paste special as values and then import into a
custom list...

I could not create both A,B,C and a,b,c, at the same time through import
method...

Dear Hardeep

To populate the series in a column starting from row 2 use
=CHAR(ROW()+63)
To populate the series in a row starting from col 2 use
=CHAR(COLUMN()+63)

Adjust the character code to make it between 65 and 90.
