Version of Outlook?
Type of mail account?
What exactly do you do to get to this issue?

If you are actually talking about OWA (Outlook Web Access), then the correct
newsgroup is; exchange.clients

That seems to be a pretty weak response from an MVP-Outlook. This error is
nothing new to Outlook, as many users have come across it. To ask "What
exactly do you do to get to this issue?" is pretty lazy...The error occurs
when you try to open Outlook....duh.

Some things you can try a
Open Outlook in safe mode
- Start Run outlook.exe /safe
Open Outlook with add-ons disabled
- Start Run outlook.exe /a
Run the scanpst.exe repair tool on you .PST files
- You can do a windows search for scanpst.exe :
- Your .pst files are usually located in C:\Documents and Settings\Your
Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

If none of those resolves the issue, it would be best to create a new
profile in Outlook and reimport your .PST file into that new profile. You
will have to set up your email account information (email address, PW,
incoming/outgoing servers, ect).
After you import your old .PST file, go ahead and Archive the hell out of
it, one main reason you received this error in the first place would probably
be due to the file size of the .PST, not 100% sure, but it seems to be the
case whenever I have helped people out with this particular error.

To create a new Outlook profile, open the Control Panel, double-click on the
Mail icon, click the Show Profiles... button, Click Add... , Type in the name
of the new profile (your choice), Click OK, then choose that new profile from
the drop-down menu at the bottom so that Outlook will "Always use this
profile" when it opens.

When this happened to me I used procmon to trace the error to the file:

\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outloo k\Outlook.xml

This file contained binary junk. I had just recovered from a HDD crash and
had to use CHKDSK /F to repair the damage.

The XML error that you have encountered due to which you are not able to open your Outlook page might have occurred due to corruption of the Outlook database. However this error can also occur if your Outlook XML file is missing or have gone corrupt. This error is very serious issue because it can cause several damage to the outlook database and can even lead to the permanent data loss situation.

So, you should try to fix this issue as quick as possible. There are two ways to perform this task i.e. either use inbuilt Scanpst.exe tool of Outlook or use third party Outlook PST repair software in case the inbuilt tool fail to resolve the issue.

All the best!
