Default "Application failed to initialize" question

Trying to install MS Office Pro 2007 on my HP Pavilion dv7 (Centrino Core 2,
2.0GHZ, Vista Home Premioum 64 bit).

But I keep getting this error message: "The application failed to initialize
properly (0xc0000018)"

Help, I don't know what to do.

Don't know if this matters, but I have MS Office Student/Home Trial that has
expired.

thanks

Default "Application failed to initialize" question

Uninstall any trial, together with any activation assistant, clear temp
files, reboot, prior to installing any paid for version

Thanks for the info DL. I unistalled the trial version and the activation
assistant, and deleted temp files. Same error message, however.

I'm open to other ideas before returing this software.

Default "Application failed to initialize" question

I think you will find its caused by your configuration of Vista, and
unlikely to be caused by the MS DVD of Office
Have you installed any updates other than Win Critical updates?

No. Just the regular Windows-prompted updates.

Default "Application failed to initialize" question

I just updated Windows Vista for x64-based Systems, and still get the error
message. That's about the extent of my computer knowledge. I know I have had
no problems with this computer with downloads and installs in the four months
I have had it. I have almost always allowed HP and MS updates. This is the
first problem I have had with anything.

Thanks for your input DL.

Default "Application failed to initialize" question

Final post.

I inserted the install disk on my other deskstop computer with XP, and it
read the disc as being a blank CD. Will take this back for my money back.

Thanks again.
