Default access will not start

when i try to start access 97 on my windows XP home
addition machine I get the message " microsoft access
can't start because there is no license for it on this
machine." It is part of my office 97 pro cd and all the
other applications work fine. microsoft help says my
product number is not supported in the usa. Why won't
access start!!!!!!!!!!!

Common problem usually caused by, of all things, a font.

Mr. Steele gave the answer, but God forbid you actually do
a SEARCH on that. The question has been asked and
answered more times than I can count...
