Default Error 1321: Office 2000 SR-1 Upgrade Again

Mary,

I downloaded and ran the component checker as suggested. It told me that I
am running MDAC 2.8 SP1 on Windows XP SP2. The MSRECR40.DLL file was
version 4.00.2927.2, size 28746.

I then renamed that file to MSRECR40.DL_ and copied the MSCRECR40.DLL from
my original MS Office 2000 Premium Install CD. I proceeded to run the
update again. This time I did not get the 1321 error this time, but it
still aborted with Internal Error 2318: Please contact product support for
assistance.

Any ideas what to check next?

Thanks,

Martin

Martin, The errant file is either a MDAC component or a Jet .dll.
See if updating your MDAC & Jet components first will allow you to install
Office 2000.
Put these terms into the search.

I had to reinstall Office 2000 Professional on my computer with Windows
XP Pro. After the initial installation, I downloaded the Office 2000
SR-1 patch and attempted to install it. I get the following error
message part way through:

Error 1321. The installer has insufficient priveges to modify this
file: D:\System\MSRECR40.DLL.

Drive D: is my CD-Rom drive.

I know this is rather old software, but it works for me... any
suggestions?

Mary,

I actually saw this article, but I have a stupid question...

Where exactly is the setup.exe file? I downloaded the o2ksr1a.exe file from
microsoft and executed it, but where is it supposed to download the install
files too? I did a search and can't seem to find them.

Thanks again.

Martin

Default Error 1321: Office 2000 SR-1 Upgrade Again

Hi again Martin

This article has the method to setup the SR-1
OFF2000: How to Determine Whether Office 2000 SR-1 Is Installed
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260292/en-us

I have the SR-1 on a CD, the setup.exe is on it. I don't know about the
download. I can copy this disk and send it along if you think that will help.
