Installing Office Standard 2007 over Office Student & Teacher 2003
I currently have Office S&T 2003 installed. I want to install Office
Standard 2007 and retain all of my data from the 2003 install (e-mails, contacts, address books, tasks, calendar, notes, etc.) My OS is Windows XP Home SP3; I own the 2003 CD; I own the 2007 CD. Can I simply install the 2007 edition, and then uninstall 2003? Or will the uninstall process remove my data files? I plan to install the 2003 edition on a different computer after I get the 2007 edition operating on this computer. |

If you start the 2007 install process you will be given the option to
upgrade. Using this 2007 replaces 2003, all data is retained, as it would be if you simply uninstalled 2003, but as with any PC operation a backup of data is allways reccommended. Installing Office Standard 2007 over Office Student & Teacher
Thanks, DL. Can you tell me where the Outlook 2003 data files are stored?
(Someplace convenient, I hope.) Would it do me any good to establish a manual restore point before beginning the 2007 install? If I use the upgrade option, can I - should I - must I - uninstall the 2003 edition before I install it on another computer? There is that license agreement thing. You can create a restore point, but restore has impact on data.
To backup (save) Outlook data files see here http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm Using the Upgrade option, removes 2003, unless your 2003 version includes components not included in 2007 version. Even if it does you can select uninstall 2003 after the upgrade. "OldMel" wrote in message ... Thanks, DL. Can you tell me where the Outlook 2003 data files are stored? Thanks, DL. The info & link you've provided have given me enough information
- and confidence - to get started without unreasonable fear of messing everything up! |

I missed an important word - A restore point has *no* impact on data
