Default Office Standard reports as Student and Teacher Edition

As an eligible military member, I recently purchased MS Office Standard
Edition 2003 in a retail box labeled Military Appreciaiton Edition. During
installation, the initial screens display "Office Standard Edition 2003".
After entering the product key, the setup screen then displays "Microsoft
Standard Edition 2003 for Students and teachers" even though the retail
packaging does not identify it as such. Which version is this? What exactly
(other than license agreement) is the difference in the editions? Any known
reason for this?

Didn't you just post this about a week and a half ago? I thought you got it
settled?

Hi Callistus,

MS Office Student Teachers Edition is MS Office Standard Edition with a different license allowance (Student & Teacher's Edition
allows 3 installation/activations) and the Student Teacher's Edition isn't a qualifying product for a future 'upgrade' edition of MS
Office.

Nope, sorry, this is my first posting here. I couldn't locate any info so I
started this thread. Do you have an idea how I can find the old post if this
has already been covered?

Thanks for the reply Bob. I was asking more or less about the Military
Appreciation version. Are you saying the the MA is a student and teacher
edition?

Hi Callistus,

As I mentioned, MS Office 2003 Standard Edition and
MS Office 2003 Student & Teachers Edition are the
same product with different upgrade and license
use values.

It's my understanding that the Appreciation package
is in the MS Office Standard Edition box, which can tend
to confuse things a bit as you've found.
http://www.navy-nex.com/misc/ms/microsoftpromo.htm

It's hard to beat a MS supported price of $60?
for any Microsoft Office 2003 product suite
The Student Teachers Edition suggested retail is,
if I recall correctly, around $149, already a nice
savings over the retail Standard Edition suggested
pricing.

You've hijacked another post. Not a nice thing to do. Please start a new
thread and give us a few more details about what you're trying to do.

Business Contact Manager is required for this and it is not included in the
Students and Teachers edition.
