Default Office 2003 Service Pack 2

I have just now downloaded and installed Office 2003 Service Pack 2.
However this was already done on 28/09.

Does anyone know if this has been duplicated or, if not, what are the
differences?

Thanks..

Hi Bill,

Were there any additional 2003 series products installed since
the SP2 update was applied?

What method/MS site did you use on each occassion to download and apply
the update?

Hi,

I just checked Microsoft Update site and was told I needed the Office 2003
SP2 update. The Office Update site does not indicate this since I have
already updated to SP2 via the Office Update (9/28). My Office 2003 apps say
SP2 is installed. Microsoft Update did not show this until today. Previously
(before today 10/18/2005), but after 9/28, it did not show that SP2 was still
needed. Does anyone know if this is a glitch in the Microsoft Update site or
why this is happening? I am assuming this is not a new SP2 update. Thanks.

Sorry, "today" in this post is actually 10/19/2005.

Definitely a glitch. On this link -
http://update.microsoft.com/microsof....aspx?ln=en-us - I was
just informed I needed to install Office 2003 SP2. I had already installed
this on 28 Sep, as confirmed when I clicked on "Review your update history"
on the same link (where Office 2003 SP2 is listed with a green "succeeded"
tick). It's also confirmed when I go to Control Panel/Add or Remove
Programs (check "Show Updates"), where Office 2003 SP2 is listed as one of
the installed components.

What triggered this nonsense is when I installed "Update for Outlook 2003
Junk Email Filter (KB906173)" yesterday. I've always used this link to
update my Windows XP-Pro/Office 2003 Pro. I've checked microsoftupdate a
couple of times between 28 Sep & yesterday, and it never mentioned Office
2003 SP2 update until today! How can it list Office 2003 SP2 as being
successfully installed (in update history) as well as tell me it's a
critical update?

Under Help/About, each of my Office 2003 software components (Excel, Word,
etc.) has SP2 on the first line.

What now?

Interestingly, officeupdate (http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/) says
"Your Office products are up-to-date!"

For the record, I'm seeing the exact same thing. Just starting seeing it today.
And I also installed SP2 back in September and the suite's already fully
patched.

For now, I'm ignoring it.

Was it triggered by installin the Outlook 2003 Junkmail filter a couple of
days ago?

Well, I did install the jm filter like you did. Whether that actually is the
trigger of the problem, I couldn't say for sure but it certainly is a
coincidence.

I can confirm it's got nothing to do with the Outlook jm filter. I have the
same problem on my pc at work, and it doesn't even have the new jm filter
installed.

What I can recall is that when SP2 was released & I downloaded on 28 Sep,
the download was just short of 50MB. The download now is 90.9MB (I'm
downloading again now). I think MS has put more things into SP2.

I will note the version no. of Excel before & after installing the new SP2.
