Default Enabling AutoCorrect Editor Options after Install - Outlook 2007

We've installed Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007, with mostly just
Outlook 2007 enabled. When users go to Tools - Options - Editor Options
- Proofing - AutoCorrect Options, they're presented with two errors
about math options not being installed, then everything above "Replace
text as you type" is grayed out.

Presumably there's some option we should have installed as "available on
local machine", and didn't. Is there a setting we can change via GPO to
enable this for our users, or another ng I should be asking in?

Thanks,

Default Enabling AutoCorrect Editor Options after Install - Outlook 2007

Hello Brion,

Thank you for posting.

From your post, I understand when clicking AutoCorrect Options buttion, two
errors are encountered. After that, everything above "Replace text as you
type" is grayed out.

At this time, would you please let me know whether Word 2007 is also
installed on the client? Please understand that Outlook 2007 uses Word as its
default email editor. If the word 2007 does not installed, the email editor
will be in reduced functionality mode, which means some of the editing
features will not be available in Outlook.

Note: The only e-mail editor available with Outlook 2007 is Microsoft Office
Word. Even if you install a standalone version of Outlook 2007, Word is still
your only e-mail editor. This is achieved by a slimmed-down version of Word
2007 being integrated into Outlook itself.

The following features are disabled if your e-mail editor for Outlook 2007
is running in reduced functionality mode .

- Auto formatting for all but hyperlinks (AutoFormat As You Type tab
disabled in
the AutoCorrect Options dialog box)
- Math AutoCorrect features (Math AutoCorrect tab disabled in the AutoCorrect
Options dialog box)
- AutoFormat features (AutoFormat tab disabled in the AutoCorrect Options
dialog
box)
- background spell-check (F7 still functional)
- synonym lookup in context menu
- OOUI (smart paste)
- grammar checker
- smart tags (Smart Tags tab disabled in the AutoCorrect Options dialog box)
- Tables (Insert tab of the Ribbon)
- Go To tab in Find/Replace disabled
- Thesaurus
- Captions (right-click any pasted image)
- Sorting (Format Text tab of the Ribbon)
- Themes (Options tab of the Ribbon)
- Change Styles (Format Text tab of the Ribbon)
- Text Box (Insert tab of the Ribbon)
- Quick Parts (Insert tab of the Ribbon)
- WordArt (Insert tab of the Ribbon)
- Smart Art (Insert tab of the Ribbon)
- Clip Art (Insert tab of the Ribbon)
- Charts (Insert tab of the Ribbon)
- Shapes (Insert tab of the Ribbon)
- Equation tools (Insert tab of the Ribbon)
- Picture tools (double-click any pasted image)

You are in reduced functionality mode by doing the following steps.

1. Open a new e-mail message.
2. Click the Office button and then click Editor Options.
3. In the Editor Options dialog box click Proofing.
4. If the following items are disabled, then you are more than likely in
reduced functionality mode.

a. Controls under When correcting spelling in Outlook are disabled
b. Only the AutoCorrect tab is enabled when you click the AutoCorrect
Options button.

Thanks, Mike, this sounds like exactly what we're experiencing. We
deployed Outlook 2007 while keeping the rest of the Office suite at 2003,
so until we upgrade the rest, sounds like we'll be enjoying the fruits of
this decision.

Hi Brion,

Yes, we need to have Word 2007 installed to get the issue solved.

Thanks,
Mike

Dear Brion & Mike,

i had the same issue with my work.
when i try to push a package containing Word 2007 on a client PC which
has only Outlook 2007 with the rest office 2003 programs.it fails to run
the program although the package is downloaded successfully on the
client PC and the user is prompted that a program is ready to run within
5 minutes.

note that the only thing that succeeded with me is to push all office
2007 on a PC with all office 2003.

i appreciate your help and prompt reply
thanks a lot
