Error 1706
When I try either to repair or add/remove features. In the process, I get a
dialog box that asks to insert the Windows 2000 CD. When I click on "Browse", and I get "data1.msi" (it says that in the file name part), it says that it needs the required files. Can someone help? |

You receive an "Error 1706. No valid source could be found" error message when you
switch CDs to add features to an Office 2000 installation http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;254894 What is the whole error message? -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Kelvin Sankar" wrote in message ... The error message says:
"Error 1706: Setup cannot find required files to continue Setup" I am not switching CDs. I am just trying to install a component. And then a dialog box comes up to insert the CD or other removable disk for the continuation of the process. When I click on Browse, it says "data1.msi" in the "file name" part, and there is only one file type in the "file type" part. Since I am installing a component that excludes Publisher, I double-click on DATA1.msi. Then it says that it is not the right place. It also says to make sure you have permissions to access the media or drive. Then, I keep on trying again and again. Finally, I clicked on Cancel, and I got Error 1706. Can someone help?
