How to get rid of short verticle lines in a word document

Are these in the text or in the margin? If in the text (and not font
characters), they might be bar tabs (remove them through the Tabs dialog or the ruler). If in the margin, they might be change bars, in which case they can be removed by accepting all changes. -- Suzanne S. Actually, neither of those solutions worked. However, I inadvertantly

Well, on second thought......they (those verticals) keep coming back even

If you turn off Track Changes and Accept All Changes in Document, you should
