Using MS Word 2003. Is there a way to get the header (using the View -
Header and Footer) to only appear on the first page?

TIA.

Joe,
In the toolbar Headers and footers, click on the page-setup button - hit the
last tab Layout - check the box for "Different first page".
Now you can easily apply a header on the first page, and let the header for
the remaining pages empty.

Take a look at: How to set up letterhead or some other document where you
want one header on the first page and a different header on other pages.
http://www.addbalance.com/word/headersfooters.htm This gives step-by-step
instructions.
Hope this helps,
