Default Filtering Duplicates

Hi All,

I have a lis tof information in an excel spreadsheet. Is
there a way of filtering out information? In particular,
filtering out duplicates but keeping the one which is the
most recent (using a date).

e.g. this is some sample data

KAREN BBS M-JAN03-PGMP-MAMPT REFER 14/02/03
KAREN BBS M-JUL03-PGMP-MAMPT REFER 04/07/03
KAREN BBS M-SEP03-PGMP-MAMPT REFER 19/09/03

In this list i would want the bottom record to be the one
left and the others hidden because the bottom record has
the latest date.

any ideas?

thanks in advance

Hi
on Chip's site is also a routine to delete duplicate rows. Adapt this
to your needs or you may use Advanced filters:

Default Filtering Duplicates

Im probably incredibly dense but I can see anything that
allows me to delete records......or if there is, it just
doesnt make sense to me.

unless theres a way an advanced filter can extracts max
entries out of groups (e.g. the record which has the max
date)

I cant see anything on that website that refers to what i
want to do

I give up,

I guess the answers no (unless you know how to use VBA -
which i dont). I attempted to create a macro with the
data provided, changing what i thought needed to be
changed, but nothing happened.

I was hoping for a simple answer but nevermind.

I guess this sort of thing is easier to do in access
