Default Quark to Publisher

We are considering purchasing Publisher, but we all ready have our catalog in Quark. Can Publisher open or import Quark files?

Thanks

There is no automatic way to do this - you would have to open both apps
side-by-side and copy and paste.
Out of interest, why do you want to move from Quark to Publisher? Quark is
more widely-accepted by commercial printers, and is a more powerful
application in many respects.

I was told that when we upgrade to Office 2003, Publisher will be included. We have a very old version of Quark that needs to be upgraded. Cost is the issue.

Not to mention, the catalog plugin for Quark is $1200 a seat.

This depends on the version of Office you get. Office Pro and SBE come with
Publisher. Office Standard does not.

you will basically have to redo the publication.

text can be brought in by copy-paste (better, i think, to export the text
and bring it in ratehr than copy paste)

graphic files are already external (Xpress does not support embedded
graphics) so you'd import them. LINK them, don't embed them (don't
copy-paste them).
