Default Styles and Formatting pane

Would anyone know of a way to stop Word 2002 from tracking the formatting in
the Styles and Formatting pane; not just hiding it (via Tools - Options -
Edit tab - "Keep track of formatting"), but stopping it ??

Thanks

What is it that you are trying to accomplish? What is the end result in your
document or in your user interface that you want to achieve?

The Styles and Formatting pane is a very neat tool, but is there a way to
stop (and then restart) the addition of new entries for each combination of
styles & direct formatting.

We're just looking for more control over it.

Thanks

On the Edit tab of Tools | Options, clear the box for "Keep track of
formatting."

And Word has always kept track of formatting in this way, even in earlier
versions.
So this option is all you can change, to prevent Word from displaying and
continuously updating the info.

Klaus
